This page explains how to import multiple users into the platform using a structured Excel (.xlsx) template. You’ll learn how to download the template, populate it correctly, upload it to the platform, and resolve any issues that may occur during the import.
If you prefer to add users individually, see Managing Users and Accounts for instructions.
1. Initiate the import
- Go to Platform Settings > Users.
- Click Import at the top of the page:
- The Import Users dialog is displayed. From here, you can download the required import template and re-upload the template once you have populated it.
2. Download the import template
- In the Import Users dialog, click Download Template.
- An Excel (.xlsx) file will automatically download to your browser’s default download folder.
If your browser blocks automatic downloads, make sure that downloads and pop-ups are enabled for this site.
3. Fill in the template
- Open the downloaded template file and navigate to the Users sheet. This is where you’ll add user data.
- Enter one row per user. Each column in the template has a specific purpose:
| Column | Required / Optional | Notes |
| First Name | Required | User’s first name. |
| Last Name | Required | User’s last name. |
| Required | Must be unique; used for login. | |
| Job Title | Optional | Add this if you want to, but it is not required. |
| Country | Optional | Must match a country listed in the Countries tab |
| Roles | Required |
Use role names from Platform Settings > Roles. Multiple roles must be | separated, with no spaces. For example: Compliance|Legal NOTE: ensure there are no blank spaces at the start, end, or between any of the | separators I.E. do not: Basic |Admin| Compliance |
- Once you have finished adding user data, save the Excel file.
4. Upload the File
-
Return to the import dialog in your EB360 platform. (If it is not already open, select Platform Settings > Users > Import.)
-
Drag and drop your completed Excel file into the dialog, or click the upload area to browse for it:
-
Provided that user data is valid, users will be added to the platform and will appear in the Users list. They will have the same access and permissions as if they were added manually.
Troubleshooting
If any issues are found in the spreadsheet, the import may fail or be only partially successful. Note that:
- All valid users will be added to the platform automatically.
- If users already exist on the platform, they will not be imported.
- If there are any issues with the user data (e.g. if required fields are missing) then those specific users will not be imported.
A dialog is displayed to help you understand how to fix any problems that may be encountered. For example:
What to do next:
- Use the Copy to clipboard button to save the error messages. You can then paste them into a document or text editor while you fix the issues in the original file.
