Verifying Corporate Data - OpenCorporates Service

Corporate data verification is a service that searches for registered companies matching a third party, to help you confirm that you are dealing with the correct legally registered entity.

This page describes how to verify a third party's corporate data if your platform is configured to use the OpenCorporates verification service. The process is slightly different if your platform uses the Freemium service.

With the OpenCorporates service, your only opportunity to verify is at onboarding. If you opt to onboard a new third party without verifying its details, you will not be able to verify at a later date.

To verify third party corporate data:

These instructions assume that you are in the process of onboarding a third party, and that you have the third party page open for editing.

1. Once you have entered a Name and Jurisdiction for the third party, the verification search is triggered automatically.
2. Click Show me to see the potential matches returned by the search:
   
3. Potential matches for your third party are listed.
4. If the correct company has been found, select it using the radio button on the right-hand side of the list.
5. If there is any difference between the officially registered company name or jurisdiction and those entered on the third party form, then the third party details will be updated to match the official details.
6. Additionally, any known associates of the company are added to the 'Associate Entities' section.
7. Click Submit to save the verified third party details. 

Improving the quality of the verification search results

If you do not see the company you are looking for, you can improve the quality of the search results by making sure that the third party name is entered as accurately as possible. Include any corporate suffixes, such as LTD, PLC, etc.
